LifetimeUpgrades.com has installed, tested, and purchased WinSnap Windows Snapshot Maker (version 3.5.1 beta) on a Windows XP, Windows Vista 32-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit operating systems. This screen capture software was installed on all machines using the default settings of the 32-bit Edition and the 64-bit Edition downloads. The installation ran without any flaws and in seconds, after a less than one megabyte download, the programs interface was up and running.
After being presented with the registration screen, we were faced with a friendly user interface packed with a rich amount of options layed out very nicely on the program. At first glance, the software has six common options running horizontally across the top of the interface and eight easy to use interactions to the right of the screen running vertically.
WinSnap Windows Snapshot Maker has the usual "File: "Save", "Save As", "Print", and a useful "Save as Thumbnail" option. Next, you have the Edit: Copy and Paste, with a "Copy Thumbnail" option. Third is a Capture button with options such as: "Fullscreen, Application, Window, Object, and Region". Fourth is the "Options" with is many options that we will get into soon. Next is the "Tools" which features "Save to Desktop" and "Edit in Paint" or other custom editing software of your choice. Finally is the "Help".With the Buttons to the right going down vertically is the "New Snapshot", Capture size option, "Shadow, Reflection, Contour, Rotate, Watermark, Resize".
The feature buttons on the right side are very quick and easy buttons. The "Shadow" button gives a nice gray shadow behind your screen capture giving you a three dimension appearance. The "Shadow" options are adjustable by the color background, opacity, size, distance, and angle. The color can be adjusted to any color on your screen giving it a nice look to your website or other images associated with your capture. The
"Reflection" button has the options to adjust the size, opacity, and offset to the image capture. Contour is also adjustable along with the "Rotation" and the "Resize". We found the watermark options to be very useful for protecting your image with your own personal logo or design. You can even add text to complete the watermark. Under the "Watermark" option, you have the capabilities to change the opacity and the placement of the watermark.
Saving an image is completely fast and has the option to save as five separate images. Screen captures can be saved as "BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIFF, TIFF". These seem to be the most common image formats.
One of the best benefits to this software is the authors support. On several occasions using a few different email address, we contacted the author and received a response within one day and usually within just a couple of hours. The author of this software is actively developing this software and is open to suggestion to better his product. The author tells us that he is soon to release the final version of 3.5.1 and is actively looking at new improvements already.
The final unique features we have found with this software snapshot maker is the ability to have a clear window background with the Application and the Window Snapshots. This feature will didsolve the images behind captured image giving you a nice clear crisp looking image. The second unique feature is the support to capture non-rectangular windows and regions of your capture. This software does a great job at these new added features in the newest versions. These are two great benefits that we haven't seen in any other screen capture software offering a lifetime upgrade policy.
LifetimeUpgrades.com feels this screen capture software is a fantasticly good buy with all of its options available, and we haven't even covered them all. Combined with fantastic technical support and a lifetime upgrade policy for newer editions, this software is a must to own and we have awarded it the 5 of 5 star.
