This software was installed as a full version on a Windows XP and Windows 7 64-bit computer with default settings and everything went off without any glitches. Once installed, you will see at first glance a side by side blank screen with a lot of controls at the top of the programs control panel. Each divided into an input and output area. Many of the features seem to be somewhat complicated at first look but with a slow overview you will become very familiar. This is not one of the simplest cropping programs on the market but with respect, it does its job very well and has many more features. Clicking to the image and cropping is just what this developer has chose to advertise it at.
Click2Crop has a few new features from the previous version such as resizing crop box with a mouse wheel, adjustable crop box with sensitive areas, and an option to constrain maximum size when resizing. Here are the features that we at LifetimeUpgrades.com enjoyed when reviewing it. After loading an image, we were faced with the original image on the left side of the screen and the newly adjusted image on the right side. Within the user interface, we found the buttons to be very small and difficult to see. For instance, a feature we enjoyed was the image information button that displayed the information of the file name, the file size, and the file metadata, along with the date and time the image was taken. What we didn't enjoy is search for this button because it wasn't easily identified.
Beside the image information button was the compression button. The Compression button did have a lot of features, that included changing the newly created image to a: .bmp, .jpg, or .tif file and having the control of how much this image will be compressed by percentage. Once again what we didn't like was the small unidentifiable button and the inability to compress the files into more formats such as a .psd or .png file.
Click2Crop has a simple method to sharpen your image by checking up to 4 boxes. We did like the that this was identifiable but wish there was a smooth box for images that were to sharp.
The much improved auto leveling had done an adequate job for our purposes as well and no complaints with that. We enjoyed the many benefits of the ability to add text and logo image within the new image. With the option to change the text color, add shadows, change the transparency, text placement, font selection, and text length by percentage we enjoyed the output text area.
There were 3 simple buttons on the right side of the application that gave us the option to change the output image from color to gray to sepia and back to color.
The variant box was slightly confusing but allows the user some added features to their images. Though this may be a good feature for some, we didn't find this option very user friendly and hope the author will spend some time working on the user interface of this option.
One last option that we failed to mention was the tilting effect. Here the original image could be tilted to any degree and the cropped image would be rotated respectfully.
All in all, for the price of $19.95 and a lifetime upgrade policy, plus the added benefit that this author is open to suggestions and has a long reputation of developing this software, we would suggest it for the intermediate image editor.
