Virtual Stop Watch Simple Review
By
admin
We at lifetimeupgrades.com downloaded and installed this small piece of software under default settings onto a Windows 7 64-bit operating system and it installed without any difficulties.
We were presented with a simple and easy rectangular interface with a "Start", "Lap", and "Reset" button. It was also set with a red digital display that is eay to read.
With a left click of the mouse on left side of the Virtual Stopwatch display, we were presented with the "configurations". There are many features within the configuration allowing the user to truly customize it to their own personal settings.
Upon install, we were warned that no database was found and asked if we wished to create one. We clicked, yes, and were on our way. We were also given an option to review the Read Me file and inside it read the following, which is important for the database creation, though it didn't seem to constrain our install.
"IMPORTANT DATABASE INFORMATION:
In order for Virtual Stopwatch (Standard,Pro, Enterprise, Adminsitrator) to use a
Microsoft Jet Database, the correct drivers need to be installed.
If you are using the Standard, or Pro version, you do not need to use a Microsoft
Jet Database. If Virtual Stopwatch cannot create and access the database, it will
revert to saving all the data in binary files. If you should need to store your
data in a Microsoft Jet Database, you will need to install the drivers, then
select "Use Microsoft Jet (.mdb) Database" in the Database tab of the configuration
dialog in Virtual Stopwatch.
If you are using the Enterprise version and Administrator, you will need to install
these drivers if they are not already present. These version of the program need
to store their data in a Microsoft Jet Database so that multiple users can access
the data at the same time.
The required drivers can be downloaded for free from Microsoft. They are:
MDAC 2.6 (or greater):
http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_260rtm.htm
Microsoft Jet Service Pack 3:
http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_Jet4SP3.htm
If you do not receive any errors when starting Virtual Stopwatch for the first time,
you will not need to install the above drivers. They are included with some
operating systems (i.e. XP), and some software packages (i.e. Office 2000).
If you have any problems getting Virtual Stopwatch to run, please contact us at:
support@springcreeksoftware.com before discarding the program. We will work with
you to get it going.
IMPORTANT ON-LINE HELP INFORMATION:
To access the on-line help, you need to have Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater
installed on your system."
